Ed fly fishing on Penstock Lagoon

This one’s dinner

Drifting in close to shore on Fosters Bay, near Cripps Point on Penstock Lagoon, scattered spinner over the water and just the odd dun popping off in brief cloudy breaks. This feisty fish rose like a dolphin over the spinner dry fly and Edward was rewarded with this lovely wild brown trout. This one went home with Ed and his dad Jim for dinner.

Autopsy revealed the belly of this fish was filled with Mayfly nymphs, stick caddis, very tiny isopods, and a few beetles, all contributing to a bright, vibrant orange flesh.
