Mark with his wild brown trout

Great Lake brownies

There were a few slicks out from the boat ramp on Great Lake‘s Swan Bay so we decided to have a look. The breeze picked up and we started to see a few fish weaving around out in front of us and feeding off the top quite well. One good long accurate cast and the fly landed close enough to this brownie to grab his attention. He immediately turned and took the fly in a very relaxed manner. Mark allowed the fish to roll over the fly and move away, before a smooth lift of the rod and the fight was on.

A week later at the northern end of the Great Lake and we found it hard to find any fish out in the open, so we worked right up against the shoreline to find this brown trout about a foot from the edge.
